Charting the Future

MNSCU created an initiative named ‘Charting the Future’. Within that framework they opened up a contest called “Shark Tank”. Brent entered the tank with the concept of building a team to both redesign the existing Charting the Future Website and to build a state wide unified portfolio site that would display the works of all 54 campuses. The objective for both efforts was to increase industry access to hidden talents and to boost career placement for his fellow classmates.

MCTC Spring Sound Stage

As a DJ and music producer in a previous life Brent has gained experience in the world of digital audio. Originally a student of the Sound Design program at MCTC Brent was tasked with creating a poster for the MCTC Spring Sound Stage event. Seeking to capture all aspects of the show Brent’s original concept utilized recycled vinyl records to be repurposed and painted as new ‘works of art.’ The vinyl theme was mocked up to double at a web layout for future development with web audio API.

Web VR ( Mozilla A-Frame)

Before seeing through the Occulus Brent examined the possibilities of Web VR. This new playing field incorporates the ability of web designers to use our most basic language of HTML to create immersive 3D experiences. Inspired by his teachers his original idea was to take a volunteer flight team of developers into the realm of VR to discover what was possible. Creating a weekly flight manual was his first attempt at leading a group of people to the new digital frontier.

Reuan Thai

Designers have to take time for a good meal once and a while. In high school Brent worked at a restaurant in Osseo, MN. This small mom and pa shop use very fresh ingredients to create exquisite taste experiences that dazzle the palette. Brent has never had a bad meal here and wanted to create a website that captured the vibrant creation of their authentic food. The site explored the use of three media queries as well as Youtube API and basic GSAP.
